Description

Rich Shilling is the superintendent of 22 years at Jeffersonville Golf Club, a public 18 hole golf course designed by Donald Ross in 1931, set across an old horse track. For you PA natives or frequent visitors- If you’re standing in the heart of Philly, you're only 36 minutes from the first tee.

Now Jeffersonville is owned and operated by West Norriton Township, who purchased the golf course in the early seventies.

In this podcast, we discuss some granular topics such as building out a fleet of equipment under a township budget, yearly maintenance practices, a Ross cetered restoration with Ron Prichard and Tyler Rae- and the constant iteration that is responsible for the product they have today.

Ross' work was broad, and has depth. Particularly in the Northeast, they are just as fun as they are important to visit... Jeffersonville being an example of how a community can use the game to bring people together-- to appreciate and conserve the land they have.
