In the second part of "The Snow Queen" by Andersen, titled "A Little Boy and a Little Girl," we meet two children, Kay and Gerda, who share a close bond despite not being siblings. They spend their days playing together in their rooftop garden until one winter day, Kay's heart is pierced by a sliver of the enchanted mirror, causing him to become cold and distant. Eventually, he is lured away by the Snow Queen herself, leaving Gerda and his old life behind. As Kay embarks on a chilling journey with the Snow Queen, he begins to forget everything and everyone he once loved.
