Blessed Marie Rose Durocher was born Eulalie Durocher on October 6, 1811, in Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada. She was the tenth of eleven children in a devout Catholic family. From a young age, Eulalie displayed a deep faith and a strong sense of compassion. After her mother’s death, she managed the household and assisted her brother, a parish priest, with his pastoral duties.
Call to Religious Life

Taking the religious name Marie Rose, she dedicated herself to the mission of providing quality education and religious instruction to young girls. The new congregation quickly gained a reputation for its commitment to teaching and its innovative educational methods.
