Early Life and Priesthood
Blessed Michael J. McGivney was born on August 12, 1852, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to Irish immigrant parents. Growing up in a devout Catholic family, Michael felt a calling to the priesthood at an early age. He entered the seminary and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Hartford on December 22, 1877.
Founding the Knights of Columbus
