Early Life and Conversion
Saint Andrew Dung-Lac was born around 1795 in Bac Ninh, Vietnam. Originally from a poor pagan family, he converted to Christianity at a young age through the efforts of Catholic missionaries. Baptized with the name Andrew, he was deeply inspired by the faith and dedication of the missionaries. He later became a catechist, spreading the Christian faith and teaching others about the Gospel.
Priesthood and Ministry

Father Andrew was arrested multiple times for his faith. Despite enduring harsh treatment and torture, he refused to renounce Christianity. He was finally martyred on December 21, 1839, in Hanoi. Companions in Martyrdom
Saint Andrew Dung-Lac is remembered along with 116 other martyrs who were killed during the various waves of persecution in Vietnam between 1820 and 1862. They were canonized together by Pope John Paul II on June 19, 1988.
