Early Life and Conversion

Saint Augustine Zhao Rong was born in China around 1746. Originally serving as a Chinese soldier, Augustine was assigned to escort a French missionary bishop, Bishop John Gabriel Dufresse, to his martyrdom. Witnessing the bishop's courage and faith, Augustine was profoundly moved and converted to Christianity. He was baptized and later felt called to the priesthood, dedicating his life to serving the Christian community in China.

Priestly Ministry and Persecution

After his ordination, Father Augustine Zhao Rong worked tirelessly to spread the Gospel and care for his flock.
