Early Life and Calling

Saint John Eudes was born on November 14, 1601, in Ri, France, into a devout farming family. From a young age, he displayed a deep love for God and a strong desire to serve others. Educated by the Jesuits, John entered the Congregation of the Oratory of France at the age of 22, where he was ordained a priest in 1625.

Ministry and Care for the Plague Victims

John Eudes began his ministry during a time of great need, particularly during outbreaks of the plague. He tirelessly ministered to the sick and dying, offering both physical care and spiritual consolation. He was canonized by Pope Pius XI on May 31, 1925, in recognition of his tireless work and enduring legacy in promoting the devotion to the Sacred Hearts and the formation of clergy.
