A Martyr's Call
Born into a samurai family, St. Paul Miki embraced the Christian faith and became a Jesuit brother. He went on to be a fervent evangelist, along with several other missionaries in Japan at the time.
These warriors of faith weren't wielding swords; they were armed with love, compassion, and an unshakeable commitment to their Christian beliefs. But sadly, they were about to face the ultimate shutdown.
St. Paul Miki, along with 26 of these missionaries and converts, were arrested by the Japanese government for proclaiming their faith. Instead of cowering in fear, our heroes chose to share the message of Christ, even in the face of imminent danger.
The martyrs were crucified in Nagasaki, a testament to the resilience of Japanese Christians during a time of intense persecution. St. Paul Miki even delivered a powerful sermon from the cross, forgiving his persecutors and expressing his love for God. Talk about a powerful mic drop! Each martyr, with unwavering courage, bore witness to their faith, creating a legacy that endures to this day.
