Tawny Lara, AKA The Sober Sexpert, was a whiskey drinker back in her party girl days. As someone who’s reported on the sober curious and mindful drinking movement since 2015, she’s tried just about every NA drink on the market. However, none of the current whiskey alternatives had the “bite” that she craved.
Tawny’s husband, Nick Mechak (Mee-Chack), got into vinegar-making as a hobby, eventually launching the Sour Humanoid brand. Meanwhile Tawny got into tea and botanicals. The more they both learned about vinegar and fermentation, the more they realized that the bite Tawny craved could be achieved with vinegar's acidity. So Nick got to work fermenting small-batch vinegar using organic seaweed from Down Maine, and then added botanicals to said artisanal vinegar. And so (parentheses) was born.
