Description

We are so honored to have Jean Fruth on the podcast today. Jean is a sports photographer, co-founder of Grassroots Baseball, and the executive producer and director of a new documentary coming out called See Her Be Her. The documentary follows seven women playing baseball at the highest level all over the world.
Melissa talked to Jean about her journey to get to where she is now, where her love of baseball comes from, what she's learned about athletes from photographing them, and what inspired her to create this documentary.
Melissa shares with Jean what See Her Be Her means to her. They discuss the women in the film - dissolving misconceptions around the mission of women's baseball and how we are moving toward creating a league of their own. They talk about how the MLB has been supportive, how Billie Jean King became an executive producer and how former players like Cal Ripken Jr, and Jimmy Rollins got involved.
See Her Be Her will be airing on the MLB Network in between Games 2 & 3 of the World Series on October 27. All information about the documentary and the companion book available for purchase can be found on seeherbeher.com.
