Well today John Oxley and I were blown away by Beth Brown the Operations Manager at the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine. Beth was also previously the Macmillan cancer program lead and involved in social prescribing as part of a charity as well as being part of GLL’s health programmes in the past.
The National Centre for Sports and Exercise Medicine in Sheffield’s aim is to improve health through exercise and sport - so this was an ideal opportunity to talk to Beth to understand and learn from her experiences. Beth also managed to get a Churchill Fellowship and went over to the USA and Canada to study how physical activity plays a part in cancer care pathways.
So lots to learn about co-location and integrations of services.
But we also found her broader perspective on how physical activity can play a more central role in supporting the NHS and the health of the nation really powerful too. Once again some great work on show here and some invaluable lessons to be learned.
