Description

Somehow, I’ve not previously managed to meet our guest today on the Conveners podcast - Professor Rob Copeland  - despite hearing so much about his impressive work over the years - so I was delighted to finally meet him and even more happy that Elaine and I got to find out so much more about him, and his ground-breaking work.  So, professor Rob Copeland is our guest today, he is the Director of the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre and former Director of the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine in Sheffield.

Today we get to find out more about Rob‘s underlying purpose to improve the population health of the nation utilising physical activity and movement, plus we talk about legacy and how Sheffield benefitted from the 2012 Olympics and consider how systems thinking is influencing the work that Rob leads. As we discovered when we spoke to Richard Caborn, the work in Sheffield really is ground-breaking and as our sector considers how better to work with health I really do think we need to understand some of the ways Sheffield is approaching this so we can accelerate our own progress and create the ‘Active wellbeing service’ we aspire to create.
