Hello Drum Channel family!
Welcome to this week’s podcast with Billy Amendola & Sheryl Crow/session musician Fred Eltringham.
In this episode, Fred goes through his early years of paying his dues and moving between his birthplace, Philadelphia, to attending Berklee College in Boston, to gigging in NYC and California, then back to NYC, and now since 2007, residing in Nashville with his wife and children.
Listen in on how Fred’s career frustrations fell into circumstances that led him to become one of the most sought-after session drummers in Nashville, recording hit after hit, to playing, recording & touring as a band member with Sheryl Crow for the past ten years.
Eltringham has performed, and recorded with Vince Gill, Carrie Underwood, Kacey Musgraves, the Wallflowers, Willie Nelson, Ben Kweller, and many more.
In 2018, Fred (who’s super-shy and low-key, with impeccable time and feel) was honored “Drummer of the Year,” by the ACM awards. We caught up with the busy drummer a few days before he left to hit the road touring with Sheryl. Let’s listen!
