Trial Updates: “We witnessed a murder - curious how it’s going?” Hope yall tuned in to the trial first every live-streamed murder case Another round of witnesses to the stand as the prosecution seeks Justice for George Floyd Some highlights from the week, so far we have heard from: Dr. Bradford Langenfeld who was in charge of Floyd’s care once he arrived at the hospital last Memorial Day. Langenfeld acknowledged under defense questioning, drug use could have caused some of the symptoms that Floyd showed when head arrived DOA at the hospital but Langenfeld said he determined the likely cause of death was a lack of oxygen despite the defense efforts to prove Floyd’s drugs use, specifically fentanyl intake as the cause of death. Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo stated to the jury that officers violated policy by failing to offer first aid to Floyd, The chief adds a counterfeit response typically wouldn’t rise to the level of the severity. The Chief was clear “Derek Chauvin’s knee restraint “absolutely” violated policy, and Chauvin should have moved his knee from Floyd’s neck once he stopped resisting. While neck restraints are now banned in Minnesota they were allowed last May. Lt Johnny Mercil, who heads “The use of Force Training took the stand this week and spoke to the Jury stating Chauvin was taught as recently as 2018 that conscious neck restraints can only be used on “assaultive or actively resisting subjects” Mercil said Chauvin’s force on a handcuffed, unresisting Floyd, wasn’t authorized or taught to the officers. Officers should use the least amount of force necessary to achieve the arrest. Key testimonies from Morries Hall are upcoming, Hall did ask to enact the 5th amendment, but the judge is calling for Hall to testify with orders to the defense to narrow questioning during Hall’s time on the stand.
