This week’s guest is Derek Kenny. Derek is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Cornerstone Global Partner in Hong Kong and has been involved in the field of human resources and recruitment for over 20 years. Derek began his career working as a fundraiser and door-to-door salesperson for the charity Gorta in Dublin. During his time fundraising, he was approached by a CEO of an American recruitment company who was taken with Derek’s easy acceptance of rejection and his ability to move on to the next door. This launched Derek’s career into the recruitment and human resources industry. To date, he has worked in recruitment in Australia, parts of the Middle East, Ireland and Hong Kong. His current venture, Cornerstone Global Partners has been awarded countless awards for HR and recruiting, including the Best Recruitment Firm and Best Innovation in Recruitment awards in the 2018 Human Resources Asia Recruitment Awards. James sits with Derek to discuss his career, it’s challenges and the lessons he has learnt along the way.
