This week’s guest is Kilian Whelan, Director and Chief Operating Officer of Oneglobal Bermuda Broking Limited. Kilian has been involved in the insurance and alternative risk insurance markets for over 20 years all around the world. With this experience Kilian has considerable expertise in leading teams and delivering business goals, managing operations, pursuing business development opportunities and long term strategic planning. He has served on multiple insurance company boards, providing direction on fulfilling their strategic goals, corporate compliance and operational effectiveness. Having retired from JLT in 2015, Kilian was contracted as Chief Operating Officer of the America’s Cup Bermuda Limited as Bermuda prepared and then delivered on its responsibilities for staging the 35th America’s Cup in Bermuda in June 2017. In Kilian’s current role as Chief Operating Officer he is responsible for the build out of the operational platform of the recently formed Oneglobal Broking Bermuda. James sits down with Kilian to discuss his career, the twists and turns it has had and the advice he would give to those starting out on their career journeys.
