In Episode 29 of The Steak Lad Experience, I had the pleasure of speaking with ex-AFL player and current commercial real estate agent Dan Hannebery.
Dan was drafted to the Sydney Swans in 2008 at the age of 17, playing a total of 208 games between 2009-2018 and an additional 18 at St Kilda towards the later stages of his career. Despite this (as we touched on during our discussion), he still had a hard time coming to terms with the success of his career and still felt like he could have “left more on the table”.
Throughout our chat we also touched on some of his best early childhood memories whilst developing his interest in the AFL, the emotion of winning the 2012 Grand Final, his eye opening mental health battles during/after his career, the goal to assist others who have gone through similar challenges to what he went though and much much more.
Dan was incredibly open during our chat, providing an incredible perspective into what it was like at his lowest points and the steps he took to recovery. If you or anyone out there is struggling and feel like there is no way out, this is the conversation for you!
