In this episode of the Reshape and Recover Podcast, Tony and I explore the transformative power of renewing your mind through Scripture as a foundational step in overcoming food addiction and embracing a healthier life. We emphasize the importance of not conforming to harmful habits and instead embracing God’s design for physical and spiritual well-being. Through Romans 12:2, we encourage listeners to lean into prayer, meditation, and research to make healthier choices while honoring the body as a temple of the Holy Spirit. Romans 12:2 says “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Our discussion highlights the addictive nature of processed foods and the deceptive tactics of the food industry that make breaking free from binge eating a challenge. Tony and I liken food addiction to other forms of addiction, stressing the necessity of abstaining from binge foods and replacing them with nourishing, whole foods. We offer practical advice, such as committing to a 21-day habit-forming period, visualizing success, and replacing lies with truth—especially the lie that “just one” indulgence won’t hurt.
In this episode, I share personal insights, including my journey of losing 90 pounds and maintaining that for over 16 years. She acknowledges the challenges but also the blessings of support, faith, and the 12-step recovery process. We invite you to join Reshape and Recover, where we provide Christ-centered coaching to help you overcome food addiction and achieve lasting transformation.
