We are blessed to have the best baseball analysts in the business...or at least in Worcester. Again, Worcester Academy Head Coach Jeremy Bandy, Worcester Academy Offensive Line Coach Mike Binkoski as our resident Peter Gammons, and now featuring Coach Jon Guynes as our middle reliever analyst, we have the best broadcast team in the country for minor league baseball. Jeremy is ready to make the trip to Syracuse just for the legendary Dinosaur BBQ restaurant.
Bink jumps right in and says the Sox are a different team at Polar Park. He and Jeremy have season tickets, along with press passes, to enjoy a fun filled experience at Polar Park. The first home game was exciting as the WOOSOX won 7-4 against the Durham Bulls and broke out a new shiny starting Japanese pitcher Naoyuki Uwasawa who was fired up. He had 5 strike outs in 5 innings of work, gave up 4 earned runs but other than a 3 run homerun, he showed he may not be in Worcester long
Jeremy shares how it was cool to see Rob Refsnyder playing first base and had a very good game on a rehab assignment. Thats the beauty of the minor leagues, Refsnyder typically plays in right field, while tonight, he was at a different position. Bandy was also able to tell him he is one of his favorite players.
Jon Guynes pointed out how the team overall hit much better with runners in scoring position going 5-11 as opposed to against Syracuse leaving runners on base and batting poorly with 2 outs.
We go over the series against the Durham Bulls. It was spectacular to see 7,921 fans come to Polar Park for the home season opener. Overall the Sox went 4-2 against Durham with one game to play before heading on the road to Toledo
