This week’s episode of #TheTyePod dives into the topic of disability and clothing adaptability with Olivia Ruston. She is a student studying #adaptivewear and heavily involved with textiles while also having firsthand experience as a #caregiver for her sister who has a #severedisability.
While clothing options have improved, there are so many areas that are lacking including customizability and affordability. Involving disabled in every stage of adaptive clothing design and development is critical. Sometimes the simplest solutions like shirts or jackets with the backs cutout change everything for someone by improving functionality while offering aesthetic options.
Thank you to Olivia for sharing her insights! You can follow her personal IG @oliviaruston_and her profile on textiles @oliviaruston.textiles
