Description

In this episode of The TyePod, Sarah Todd Hammer, a disability advocate, shares her journey from becoming disabled at age eight due to transverse myelitis, later re-diagnosed as acute flaccid myelitis, to her current life. She discusses her experiences with music, education, and advocacy.

Sarah Todd talks about some of her challenges in school, including navigating college accommodations. This in particular resonated with me from my own experience attending a university with a host of barriers on top of coursework. She emphasizes the importance of mental health and the stigma against disabled individuals expressing emotions. We both feel that people with disabilities have every right to share emotions like anybody else!
