​Li Lu, born April 6, 1966, is a Chinese-born American investor and philanthropist. A survivor of the 1976 Tangshan earthquake, he became a student leader during the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests. After emigrating to the U.S., he earned simultaneous degrees in economics, law, and business from Columbia University. In 1997, Li founded Himalaya Capital, focusing on value investments in Asia and the U.S. Mentored by Charlie Munger, he introduced Munger and Warren Buffett to BYD, a Chinese electric vehicle company. Li co-founded The Asian American Foundation in 2021 and serves as a trustee for both Columbia University and Caltech
