Description

Our inaugural episode of Conversations with Cully and Conlon start off with a bang. UConn legend Maria Conlon joins Best Podcast Host in the UNIVERSE Steve Cully starting off with a bang.

Maria questions why there was hate for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. I had to admit that a close friend of mine was also a Swifty, much like Maria, I felt well versed on the subject. Admittingly, I was jealous because New Heights podcast was a huge success, and I didn't like all the attention they were receiving.

I realized it was my own insecurities that was the source of contention. Maria agreed that social media can be toxic, and some people don't like witnessing others share happiness or joy. After watching a few games, I truly believed Taylor Swift was a huge football fan and was going out of her way to support Travis. It was not her fault TV camera's showed her as often as they did, but at least the networks pulled back and allowed her to be a fan.

We agreed while the NFL generated enormous revenue off the couple, the hate was beyond unjustified. It's easy to sit behind a keyboard and attack a couple for no reason other than they are happily in love. I admit being guilty of having a negative perspective early on simply being cantankerous and jealous. Taylor Swift is a special person, one of the most talented artists in the world, a lover of football, and devoted to Travis for showing up each week despite unruly fans to support her person.

As a coach, Maria shares how she meets with players, along with parents to educate and discuss social media. Anything posted can follow you forever, it can affect or make a difference in going to college or getting a job. Maria loves when players on other teams will talk trash and give her bulletin board material to fire her girls up.

We finish talking some NBA and how exciting the season is with the Knicks winning. Catelin Clark impressed Maria and she has brought new eyes to the game. Womens sports are on fire and its exciting to see. We discuss the Britney Griener situation and how it was handled. First show coming out hot! Conversations with Cully and Conlon pulls no punches and don't miss our first episode of hot takes, with more to come!
