Husky Talk- Conversations With Cully And Conlon is coming at you. Hosted by UConn Women's Basketball Legend Maria Conlon who took time out from moving houses was on top of her game. We had a lot of news and topics to cover, Maria was amazing.
We started by talking about the finals of the Olympics for both Men's and Women's basketball teams. Maria liked the fire that Lebron James showed which raised the intensity. She said Steph Curry was unstoppable and his performance made the difference.
Maria was puzzled by some of the coaching decisions in the Womens medal game. Diana Taurasi not seeing a minute of action made little sense, she did set the all time record with her 6th Gold Medal. Overall, Maria truly enjoyed the competitiveness on both sides. Many fans were expecting blowouts, and Maria felt the International game is different than what we are used to seeing and some players struggled to adjust.
We moved on to a big weekend of WNBA basketball. Chicago's Angel Reece setting a record for being the fastest player in WNBA history to have 20 Double-Doubles.
After, we took a look at the situation with Becky Hammon and the Las Vegas Aces. Dearica Hamby filed a federal lawsuit saying, "she was subject to repeated acts of intimidation, discrimination, and retaliation because she got pregnant" Becky Hammon denied all claims.
Caitlin Clark broke the rookie assist record over the weekend and Indiana is still in line for the playoffs. Maria said the NY Liberty have too much talent, including 5 Olympians, and a great coach in Sandy Brondello, which should lead them to a championship. They are the first WNBA team to clinch a postseason spot.
Maria brought her expert analysis and insight to the table for a fantastic episode. Don't miss Husky Talk- Conversations with Cully and Conlon.
