Essential for our smartphones, laptops, and electric cars, is extracted at a tremendous human cost. Child labour is rampant, perpetuating a cycle of exploitation and poverty that echoes the region’s colonial past.
The legacy of colonialism still haunts Congo, shaping economic structures that prioritize extraction over human dignity. Corporations and consumers alike are entangled in this system, often knowingly complicit in sustaining the suffering. This conversation is a call to recognize our shared responsibility and to demand transparency, justice, and ethical reform.Ultimately, it reminds us how deeply interconnected our global economy is.
