The tragedy of African elites is a narrative asserted by the guests that it is woven with tales of promise, betrayal, disconnection, and the weight of colonial legacies. While some elites have emerged with noble intentions, many have succumbed to the same traps that ensnared their predecessors, leading to a disheartened populace and stunted growth. The challenge lies in reforming individual leaders and transforming the structures and systems that enable maladministration. Only by fostering accountable governance, embracing ethical leadership, and prioritising the voices of the people can Africa hope to reclaim its potential and navigate towards a future where elites genuinely serve their nations.
