Austin Scholar is a high school student who hasn't had a teacher since fourth grade. She has attended alternative schools for most of her life, where she has been given the agency to take ownership of her learning. Outside of school, she is an education writer who shares her perspectives and advice for parents to help their students thrive. In a little over a year, she was able to build a large newsletter audience and Twitter account, with over 5,000 followers (as of this episode).
She joins us to share her call to action for parents and educators to talk and, more importantly, listen to their kids! She also shares her advice for making learning more student-centered. Finally, Austin Scholar urges students to start using AI now to supercharge their learning.
