Sports broadcaster, Tom McCarthy, joined Not For Long Media this week. When Colin and Tom met, Colin was playing for the Bears and Tom was calling the Bears vs Browns game for CBS.
A New Jersey native and graduate of The College of New Jersey. After graduation, Tom served as the play-by-play announcer for the Double-A Trenton Thunder for six seasons. After finishing up in Trenton, McCarthy made the move to Philly, and spent five seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies as a radio play-by-play voice as their pre-game and post-game radio host. He then made the jump to National League East rival New York Mets. But the city of brotherly love came calling back and McCarthy signed a five-year deal to return to Philly. He took over TV play-by-play on a full-time basis. Not only has he mastered calling the game of baseball, but he has called NFL games for major TV networks.
Colin and Tom talked about Jimmy Rollins and how he is probably the most under-appreciated Philly's sport athlete, baseball atmospheres at different stadiums, their top five stadiums, interacting on social media, the future of sports, how they met, and all of the memories Tom has made over his career.
