One of the hardest seasons of motherhood can sometimes be that very first one--when you find out that you’re carrying a little one inside you, and you weren’t planning for it!
In those moments, fear and panic can take over, and if you’re not prepared, the future can seem hopeless. Lois Benham-Smith saw a need to provide holistic and biblically-based support for women facing unplanned pregnancies. She founded the Atwell Centre in 2012, a Christian Community Health Agency that offers holistic healthcare and programs, in partnership with local public health units and community organizations. Their medical clinic offers pregnancy assessment through Point of Care Ultrasounds (P.O.CU.S.) pregnancy options counselling, and STI testing and treatment. Atwell also offers post-abortion support and stabilization counselling. They are committed to excellent patient care delivered by regulated and licensed professionals in a safe and supported environment. Additionally, Atwell’s S.H.A.R.E. Program develops critical thinking skills in our youth, parents and community around healthy relationships and sexuality.
Lois's work focuses on connecting families facing unplanned pregnancies with compassion, community and information so that they can make decisions based in love, hope and faith...not fear.
