Welcome to the Onward Shifts Podcast!
Today, I want to talk to you about how to move on from a bad day. We've all had those rough days that seem to stretch into the entire week, and it’s hard to snap out of that mindset. In this episode, I share my personal experience from last week when one bad Monday turned into a frustrating week. I discuss the importance of acknowledging your emotions, shifting your mindset, and breaking tasks into smaller steps to regain control. I introduce the concept of the "bounce back rate"—how quickly you can let go of negativity and get back on track.
1. Reflect but don’t dwell: Take a moment to acknowledge what happened and how you feel about it. It’s okay to feel upset or disappointed. Reflect on any lessons learned, but try not to dwell on negative thoughts.
2. Practice self-care: Engage in activities that help you relax and recharge. This could be anything from taking a walk in nature, listening to music, reading a book, or practicing mindfulness or meditation.
3. Talk it out: Sometimes, sharing your feelings with a trusted friend or family member can provide emotional support and perspective. They may offer advice or simply listen, which can be incredibly comforting.
4. Set small goals: Focus on achievable tasks or goals for the rest of the day or week. Accomplishing even small things can boost your confidence and sense of control.
5. Look for positives: Try to find something positive or good that happened during the day, no matter how small. This can help shift your mindset towards gratitude and optimism.
6. Plan for tomorrow: Think about what you can do differently or how you can improve the situation in the future. Having a plan can give you a sense of direction and purpose.
Remember, everyone has bad days, and they don’t define your worth or potential. It’s how you respond and move forward that matters most.
