Hello,

Okay, at this point you should have a profile set up on Pinterest, and you should have some followers.

Now it’s time to make sure your boards are up to snuff.

People are usually going to follow you based on your profile and your boards, so they need to be good.

At first, you’ll probably want to create around ten boards or so.

Each one should be named an important keyword you want to rank for, because when people are searching for interesting boards, you want yours to rank high for a popular search related to the board’s topic.

Let’s say you have a board on the subject of improving your golf swing.

You might type “golf swing” into the Pinterest search box and watch what automatically shows up in the drop down.

For example, the first thing that showed up for “golf swing” was “golf swing tips”.

That would be a good name for your board.

It’s extremely important to be sure all of the things you pin, at least initially, are almost certain to get re-pinned by other users.

The reason for this is because the Pinterest algorithm will give you a huge boost in the search results if your boards have a high re-pin rate.

For this reason, it’s a good idea to have an analytic program like Tailwind.

Tailwind will help you see which of your pins is getting more re-pins, and which ones aren’t performing.

It’s a good idea to delete pins that aren’t getting a lot of re-pins to keep your ratio as high as possible.

If there are pins you’d rather not delete because you want them for your own personal use, you can make a second account just for your personal pins.

Keep your business accounts clean!

When you create your boards, be sure you’re using keywords as the board names, and in the descriptions, and that you choose the very best photo as the cover photo for the board.

When you visit one of your boards, you can edit the board and choose a specific photo that is pinned to the board to be the one that represents it.

You want to use the best so when people visit your profile, they see a beautiful layout of boards with interesting photos.

It makes them much more likely to follow you, because they’ll be expecting that kind of great content all the time.

Make sure you include a few important keywords in the description of each board, but don’t make it look like spam.

Just work a few keywords in naturally wherever they fit.

Tomorrow we’re going to talk about the optimal size for images on Pinterest, and how to create images that will get your content noticed!

Your images are one of THE most important elements on Pinterest, so you’re not going to want to miss tomorrow’s lesson!
