Welcome to Clash of the Titans: Titans vs. Reboots, the movie podcast where we battle two versions of a movie that’s basically just a bunch of ancient gods, mythical monsters, Claymation and bad CGI.
First, we’ll dive into the 1981 original, which, despite the less-than-ground-breaking special effects, is a classic in every sense of the word. It has Harry Hamlin in a toga and a mechanical owl with a complex personality. In a place where the real monsters were made from clay, puppets, and good old-fashioned craftsmanship.
Then, we’ll compare it to the 2010 remake, where CGI is so powerful it can transform a hero into a CGI superhero with a flick of the wrist—but somehow, it loses all the charm and mystical weirdness of the original. So, grab your medusa mirror, kraken-sized popcorn, and your entirely unnecessary leather sandals because we’re about to clash, mythical style!
