Welcome to Death Race 2000 vs. Death Race: Cars, Carnage, and Chaos, the movie review podcast where we take on the ultimate vehicular bloodbath in the most absurd way possible. We’re pitting the wildly 70s cult classic Death Race 2000 against the brutally gritty, rev-your-engine reboot Death Race (2008). And let’s just say, it’s a race to the finish line to see which movie is more ridiculous—and maybe which one involves more explosions or ridiculous death tolls.
In one corner, we’ve got a delightfully campy dystopian race where the point of the game is to run over pedestrians for points. In the other corner, we have a reboot with gritty re-imagining, lots of guns, and Jason Statham, doing what he does best: looking tough and avoiding any actual personality development. Tune in as we take these two movies head-on and discuss which one offers the best combination of souped-up cars, unnecessary violence, and unbelievable plot twists.
