Welcome to “Overboard, Underwater, and Over the Top”, the movie review podcast where we review one of the most ridiculous premises in rom-com history—two versions of Overboard!
First, the classic 1987 version, starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, where a rich woman gets amnesia, and a handyman takes advantage of her memory loss to convince her she’s his wife. (Totally normal, right?)
And then, the 2018 remake, which flips the script by swapping the genders and somehow ratchets up the ridiculousness—with Anna Faris as a poor woman taking advantage of a rich man’s amnesia. It’s a charming mix of nostalgia and chaos, but which version is truly “the one that’s not going to get you sued by the ethics police”?
Tune in as we argue over which Overboard takes the crown—The 80s camp-fest or the modern-day amnesia hijinks?
