Born in 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska, Warren Buffett Showed interest in business early: selling gum, Coca-Cola, and newspapers. He was just 11 years old when he bought his first stock! After graduating in Business Administration with two years at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and two further years at the University of Nebraska, he received a Masters in Economics at Columbia University. There he studied under Benjamin Graham, who would be pivotal in helping him develop a foundation in value investing. He took over Berkshire Hathaway in 1965 and built it into a $700+ billion empire. Known as the `Oracle of Omaha', he remains humble, living in the same house since 1958 with a frugal lifestyle despite his massive wealth.

In terms of strategies, Buffett espouses value investing with a long-term focus. He only invests in businesses he understands, where there is a competitive advantage, and where the leadership is both honest and competent.

As for lesson we can learn from him, he lives below his means and has a preference for avoiding debt (especially credit card debt). Patience is a virtue and being contrarian: don't follow the crowd. Last, reputation matters: it takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it.

From humble beginnings to building a financial empire, Buffett’s success boils down to simple principles done consistently.
