Make 2025 the year you take control of your health and fitness. It's time to transform your body and mind in 2025.
If your goals are fat loss or muscle building based, the main thing that you’ll need to understand before everything else is the importance of Calories in VS Calories out. Along with this comes flexible dieting which is very prevalent amongst the fitness scene. Though far healthier than it's distant cousin - deprive, binge, repeat - being flexible can quickly turn into eating just about anything and everything that fits your macros. Some people bend over backwards just to come up with a creative way to eat unhealthy whilst giving off the impression of health. Wasting valuable time, rather than just focusing on building proper foundations.
No matter how much mental gymnastics you pull, an apple is simply not a donut... big shock right? What I mean is that on the surface they could possess the same calorie content, but under the surface, the apple has a world full of extra benefits. Now, an apple & a donut aren't great comparisons. So instead let's use grapes and skittles. While grapes don't have the greatest micronutrient profile, they sure trump skittles. So, 100g of grapes is equal to 69 calories, while 100g of skittles is 405 calories. 4 times that of grapes! That’s the calories... but, how's the quality? Well, grapes have potassium, vitamin a, c, b, and iron to go along with that. You just simply can't get the same quality from eating junk.
So, the point of all this wasn't to get you to throw out all the skittles and ice cream in your house. Instead, to encourage you find a healthy balance. It's all well to have some skittles, but make sure that's not all your having. You need to incorporate quality foods if you want to see quality results. A good ratio to shoot for is 80-85% of heathy & highly nutritious foods, and 15-20% “cheat foods”.
Remember: the better quality of your diet, the better your skin, mind and body will look.
Whether you’re a beginner or just looking for renewed motivation, 2025 is as perfect a year as any to make some progress.
