The murderers were involved in gang life, leading to a racially motivated shooting where all nine victims were white. One of the families shot was headed by a KKK member, intensifying the racial tensions, and the town was shut down due to violent clashes between the KKK and Black Panthers. Cindy recalls her Pastor driving two hours to comfort her the night her brother died, sharing God's word and the story of forgiveness. Through God's strength, Cindy found the ability to forgive and live in forgiveness. Four years after her brother's murder, Cindy served on several outreach teams, preaching the gospel to kids in similar situations as her brother's killers.
