In this episode, we’re honored to welcome Aisha Bell Robinson—a dance movement therapist, counselor, artist, and parent whose work beautifully weaves embodiment, inclusion, and systemic change. Her advocacy for her daughter Naima and for families navigating school systems is both personal and powerful.
Aisha discusses the importance of showing up for our kids and in situations as regulated parents, and also attuning to our kids and letting them lead when some challenges arise.
During this episode, she also shares ways in which parents can learn about their rights and their children's rights going into educational settings. Aisha further shares that having the tools and resources to know what to ask for during IEP/504 meetings is crucial to advocate effectively for our kids. To help parents navigate this, Aisha offers parents a one-page handout and also holds an open parents forum a few times per year.
