Title: Hope: Living and Lasting
I Peter 1:10-13
Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look. Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
In this sermon, "Hope: Living and Lasting," Jon Farra discusses the past, present, and future aspects of salvation.
The discussion begins by examining the magnitude of salvation through justification, redemption, and propitiation. These terms represent God's transformative work in making us His beloved children. Understanding these elements helps us grasp the full scope of our salvation.
Next is sanctification—our ongoing spiritual growth journey. This involves prayer, studying Scripture, and practicing spiritual disciplines to draw closer to God and bear fruit in our lives.
Finally, the focus is on future glory and preparedness. We look forward to Christ's return and our eventual glorification. Until then, we're called to prepare our minds for action and live out our faith actively by sharing the good news and reflecting God's holiness.
This message reminds us that our hope is both living and lasting, grounded in Jesus Christ's grace. Whether you're new to faith or a long-time believer, this sermon encourages you to appreciate your salvation, grow spiritually, and actively prepare for Christ's return.
