Title: John 14:1–7
---
John 14:1–7
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” (ESV)

In his sermon on John 14:1-7, Jon Farra delves into the comforting words of Jesus to His disciples. Jesus tells them not to let their hearts be troubled and to believe in God and in Him. He reassures them that He is going to prepare a place for them in His Father's house, where there are many rooms. This preparation signifies a promise that He will return to take them with Him so they can be together.
Thomas, confused about the way to where Jesus is going, asks for clarification. Jesus responds with one of His most profound statements: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Farra emphasizes that this declaration underscores Jesus' divinity and exclusive role as the mediator between God and humanity.
Farra challenges listeners to consider if they see Jesus as an idea or as a living person who desires a personal relationship with them. He explores Peter's impulsive pledge of loyalty and subsequent denial, illustrating the human struggle between professed faith and actual surrender.
The sermon encourages believers to rely on Jesus' peace in times of trouble and to understand that following Him may involve suffering but leads ultimately to eternal life with God. The message calls for a deep, personal connection with Jesus, recognizing Him as alive and active in their lives today.
