Title: Proverbs 3:1–10
---
Proverbs 3:1–10
My son, do not forget my teaching,
but let your heart keep my commandments,
for length of days and years of life
and peace they will add to you.
Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you;
bind them around your neck;
write them on the tablet of your heart.
So you will find favor and good success
in the sight of God and man.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the LORD, and turn away from evil.
It will be healing to your flesh
and refreshment to your bones.
Honor the LORD with your wealth
and with the firstfruits of all your produce;
then your barns will be filled with plenty,
and your vats will be bursting with wine. (ESV)

Jon Farra explores the profound wisdom embedded in Proverbs 3:1–10, emphasizing the importance of internalizing God's teachings. The passage begins with a fatherly admonition to remember God's commandments and promises a life enriched with peace and longevity for those who do. Jon underscores the necessity of steadfast love and faithfulness, urging believers to bind these virtues closely to their hearts.
Trusting in the Lord entirely, rather than relying on personal understanding, is highlighted as a key principle. Jon points out that acknowledging God in every aspect of life ensures that He will guide one's path straight. A caution against self-perceived wisdom aligns with a call to revere God and shun evil, which brings healing and refreshment to one’s being.
Jon further elaborates on honoring God with our resources, advocating for offering the first fruits as an act of faith and gratitude. This practice promises divine provision and abundance. Through these verses, Jon reminds listeners of the integral connection between trust in God and experiencing His blessings, encouraging them to live lives marked by devotion, integrity, and generosity.
