Now this was a proper conversation.
A genuine chat about the ups, downs, and lessons learned on the property journey.
Ryan’s story is one many can relate to — starting out with pushback from friends and family, scaling fast, and then realising the real growth comes from slowing down enough to understand the process before pushing on again.
We both shared what it feels like to face that pushback. The truth is, with the right work ethic, commitment, and persistence, you can get through those moments when the vision isn’t clear and the structure isn’t set.
One of my favourite takeaways was Ryan’s line: “Every year gets a little less horrible.” It’s spot on — as we make mistakes, we learn, and with time we become less emotional, more rational, and sharper in how we build both our portfolios and our businesses.
Ryan also spoke about the power of communication and how he surrounds himself with people five years ahead of where he wants to be. Those monthly check-ins with his mentor are now invaluable — because as I always say, it’s not about finding a “good educator,” it’s about finding someone who’s walked the walk.
Massive thanks to Ryan for taking time out of a busy schedule — juggling multiple jobs — and even sacrificing a rare sunny Welsh day to chat with us about the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
Until next week,
Best regards
