We will be looking at the text in 2 Peter 2:1-3 where the apostle warns us about these false prophets and teachers that they, "through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not" (v.3). The term “make merchandise of you” refers to the exploitation of people perpetrated by deceivers for their own self gain. It means that they will make money off you or draw money out of you, through deceptive practices. This could also be called, “fleecing the flock.” Such extortion is accomplished through deceptive persuasions, heretical teachings, testimonial claims and exaggerated stories. They beguile the "unstable soul" (v. 14) because that soul REFUSE to study the Word of God for themselves, as not to be deceived!
Folks listen! You got to realize, we have an enemy who is an enemy of our God, and his name is Satan. He is looking to take you straight to the Lake of Fire right along with him. AND he will use "his ministers" (2 Corinthians 11:13-15) and his "children" (1 John 3:10) to do exactly that, if we don't wake ourselves up and be not blind to his many devices and schemes. Now is NOT the hour to bury your head in the sand and heap upon yourselves false teachers and prophets who promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves to corruption and sin. These men, these women we are going to be talking about today, are taking no prisoners! They are callous, heartless, unmerciful, and unsympathetic. Peter says they are "a disgrace and a stain among you." They are cold-blooded, hard-hearted and uncompassionate when it comes to getting their money bag! These people DO NOT care about your soul! Make no mistake! They feed you twisted and taken out of context Scripture, they isolate the Word of God in order to beguile you. Their sole motive is not preparing you to meet the living God, but to become rich off of your ignorance and laziness. DON'T BE DECEIVED! STUDY THE WORD OF GOD FOR YOURSELF AND COME OUT FROM AMONGST THESE WOLVES! THEY ARE HOWLING ALL AROUND THE WORLD!
