Description

Even children have a sin nature. David rues the fact that he was born with sin already at work within him: โ€œSurely I was sinful at birth, / sinful from the time my mother conceived meโ€ (Psalm 51:5). Elsewhere, David states, โ€œEven from birth the wicked go astray; / from the womb they are wayward, spreading liesโ€ (Psalm 58:3). I was contending with someone today when they were trying to convince me that babies are ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿฝborn "innocent" and that they ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿฝdid not inherit Adam's sin nature. The person's reasoning was that, babies are born innocent and that when they get older, the world ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿฝcorrupts them and ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿฝthat's when they become sinners in need of a Savior. Now, I know there's a thing called "the age of accountability." With small children, in the eyes of God, will not be held accountable for their sins. I get that! But that don't mean they're born innocent. They have that same inherited sin nature like we all do, it just that until they reach the "age of accountability," God is not holding their sins against them... Yet!
