God tells us not to love this God-hating, Christ-rejecting pagan world! The "pride of life" can be defined as anything that is “of the world,” meaning anything that leads to arrogance, ostentation, pride in self, presumption, and boasting. John makes it clear that anything that produces the "pride of life" comes from a love of the world and “if anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him” (1 John 2:15). Here is the ESSENCE of the pride of life —anything that exalts us above our station and offers the illusion of God-like qualities, wherein we boast in arrogance and worldly wisdom. Christians have always been, and will always be, lured by the same three temptations (lust of the flesh, eyes & pride of life) Eve and Jesus experienced. Satan doesn’t change his methods; he doesn’t have to because they continue to be successful. But we stand firm and resist him anyway and DENOUNCE PRIDE IN OUR LIVES! We are not to be arrogant bosters, taking pride in our earthly accomplishments and worldly treasures! If we are to boast, we are to boast in the Lord! As Jeremiah 9:23-24 says, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight,’ declares the LORD.” Amen! 🎯 Repent and believe and turn back to God!
