Proverbs are truths that are not clearly expressed or easily understood. They are mysterious sayings or adages. They are abstruse, meaning they are difficult to understand. These words of truth goes against everything in this wicked, Christ-rejecting, God-denying, ungodly pagan world! Wordly wisdom leads to spiritual darkness and a darkened understanding! Those in the "world" who reject Christ Jesus, are NOT wise, irregardless of their puffed up notions/philosophies, education, wealth and standing! The unrepentant simpleton (fool) will always reject Christ, who is Wisdom!
In the Book of Proverbs, Wisdom is personified as a woman and speaks in the first person of godly wisdom. We can read the word "wisdom" in Proverbs, as the wisdom of God! And we know that Paul in 1 Corinthians 1:24 says, "Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God."
Proverbs 1:1–7 outlines the four distinct ''to'' statements, or purpose statements of the book of Proverbs. This section culminates with the identification of the only source of true wisdom, the Lord Himself. The purpose of the book of Proverbs is to recognize wise instruction and apply knowledge wisely. Most importantly, this all begins with a reverent fear of the Lord and the rejection of foolish ways. It is written: "The [reverent] fear of the Lord [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the beginning and the preeminent part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]; but arrogant fools despise [skillful and godly] wisdom and instruction and self-discipline" (Proverbs 1:7). Amen! Be holy. Live clean. Fear the Lord and consider all your ways before Him! 🎯 REPENT and BELIEVE and TURN back to God!
