Description

Curtis Nightingale, a former student of Newman University, is now both a successful musician and a school superintendent. He attended Newman to become a teacher while working as a police officer, thanks to an accelerated program that fit his unpredictable schedule. Curtis is part of a band called Bootleg Mercy, originally a 90s cover band that shifted to writing their own music during the pandemic. Their new songs with acoustic elements gained unexpected popularity overseas.

Apart from his music career, Curtis received recognition as Principal of the Year in 2020, highlighting his leadership in education. His journey from law enforcement to education was influenced by an advisor's suggestion to pursue additional qualifications, which eventually led him to Newman and his current roles.

Today, Curtis balances his passion for music with his responsibilities as a superintendent, overseeing school operations. His story shows how dedication, flexibility, and seizing opportunities can lead to success in multiple fields.
