Israel Demand
”Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah, and said to him, “Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.” But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” So Samuel prayed to the Lord. And the Lord said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.“

- The biggest mistake children of God always do is to desire to be like the world.
- They wanted to serve the gods of their enemies.
- They have just defeated Philistines in a previous chapter and now they want to be like them.
Democracy?
• Is God autocratic or democratic?
”And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”“

• Sovereignty of God is automatic - His will shall be done on earth whether we like it or not.
• However God allows us to choose - sounds democratic to me. So what is the real character of God when it comes to this concept?
Answer: Acceptable - Permissive Will
”And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.“

(1). Good: God is good and there is no evil in Him hence His will is Good.
”For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.“
Psalms 100:5 NKJV
”To declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.“

(2). Acceptable will of God - allows us to choose as mentioned in Joshua 24:15. God partners with us on earth.
”Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.“
Matthew 6:10 NKJV
• He already created the earth but we welcome Him in His own earth.
• We are partnering with God
(3). Perfect will is sovereignty of God - that his will, shall be done whether we want it or not.
It is the measure of His justice on everyone who ever existed. Those who chooses wrong will be held accountable for their wrongdoing.
King Jesus
• Jesus is the King of kings - He confesses it Himself to Pilate.
• There is no question if He is a King or not
”Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”“

• Jews and Pharisees reject Jesus the same way Israel elders rejected God as their King and wanted a human king
”Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover, and about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews, “Behold your King!” But they cried out, “Away with Him, away with Him! Crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!”“

Lamb King - King of Kings
”These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of Lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.”“

• The Lamb will overcome them?
• Oxymoron - God will surprise you how battles are won
• The Lamb defeats a dragon
”And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.“
