In John 14:12, Jesus says, “Anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing, and even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” These words invite believers to live in the reality that Christ’s life continues through us.
To understand this, we must first recognise what it means to live in Christ and for Christ to live in us. Much of Scripture points to the importance of loving relationships — one-third of the New Testament focuses on how believers are to live with one another. Strong, grace-filled relationships reflect the life of Christ within us and demonstrate God’s transforming power to the world.
Jesus modelled this perfectly. He said He could do nothing by Himself, but only what He saw His Father doing (John 5:19). His actions flowed from complete unity with the Father. In John 17, Jesus prayed that believers would experience this same unity — “just as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You.” This means His presence is constant and active in our lives.
When we truly live with that awareness, ordinary moments become opportunities for God to work through us. Every interaction, act of kindness, or word of encouragement can carry eternal weight. To be “in Christ” is to let His life shape our thoughts, relationships, and actions, so that His work continues through us today.
