Meet Lauren McGuire—a writer, mom, and marathon runner who crafts stories as rich and unexpected as her own life.Lauren’s journey has taken her from the Middle East to monster-filled galaxies, and everywhere in between. She began writing in 2016 as a way to make sense of a chaotic world, and she hasn’t looked back since—penning six full manuscripts and short stories that explore everything from cosmic horror to deep human truths.When she’s not wrangling her family of five or hitting the pavement in training for half-marathons, she’s earning accolades like the Terry Kay Prize for short fiction and finishing as a runner-up for the Natasha Trethewey Prize for Poetry. Most recently, she claimed 2nd place in the Writers of the Future Contest (Q1 2024), and her story “Karma Birds” has appeared in the Writers of the Future Anthology, Volume 41.
